07/30/07 - New SCBA / FAST Team Training
One of the FAST Team evolutions involved a firefighter trapped in a collapse situation whose low
air alarm was going off. The firefighter was trapped and entangled in wiring. The FAST Team had
to breach a wall to enter the building, navigate through an obstructed tunnel, crawl through a maze,
located the firefighter and give him an air supply via the FAST Team pack. They then had to cut the
wiring to free the firefighter, drag the firefighter back through the maze, obstructed tunnel, and wall
breach. They located the firefighter and secured an air supply within around six minutes, and had
the firefighter outside the building within 21 minutes of the MAYDAY. The team consisted of Lt.
Scott Loomis, FF Ed Swart, FF Tom Swart, FF Jeremy Bruch, FF Darel Logue, & FF Matt Clark.
