Serious Injuries in Route 14 Crash
On October 2, 2014 at 1726 hours the Oaks Corners Fire Company & Phelps Ambulance were
dispatched to the corner of Route 14 & Cross Road for a reported two-vehicle crash with injuries.
Oaks Corners Lieutenant Zach Rey was the first unit to arrive on scene and reported one patient in
each vehicle with one patient trapped. Oaks Corners Chief Maney arrived on scene, assumed
command, and placed Lt. Rey in charge of extrication. Oaks Corners Engine 3211, Heavy Rescue
3271, & Rescue 3261 responded with a crew of 21. A hose line was stretched due to the trapped
patient and fluids leaking from both vehicles. Hydraulic rescue tools were used to free the trapped
patient. Mercy Flight was requested to transport the other patient due to serious injuries. A portion of
Route 14 was closed for around an hour.
