Firefighters Receive Awards at Oaks Corners Fire
Department 2007 Awards Banquet.
On Saturday 04/19/08 President Kenneth Maines of the Oaks Corners Fire
Department presented the 2007 Firefighter of the Year Award to Firefighter and
active Life Member Charles "Rick" Maney. As Firefighter Maney spends the winter
months in Florida, the award was accepted by his son, Assistant Chief Brian
Maney.

Despite the fact that he is only in New York State approximately 8 months out of
the year, Rick responded to 103 emergency calls, making him third on the OCFD
"Top Responders" list. President Maines mentioned the amount of time that Rick
spends at the station and responding to calls. Asst. Chief Maney also thanked Rick
for his work as the official department photographer, where he has taken over
17,000 photographs since 1998. These photographs are used in fire department
training, critiques, presentations,and promotion.
