Firefighters Extinguish Blaze at Show World.
During the evening hours of Saturday April 26th, the Junius Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure
fire on Route 318 near Nine Foot Road. Additional 911 calls were received reporting flames showing from Show
World at 1490 Nine Foot Road. The first arriving units on the scene reported flames and smoke coming from the
building. Junius FD Chief Mike DeWaele assumed command of the incident and requested mutual aid from the
Border City, Oaks Corners, & Magee Fire departments.

Junius firefighters led off with an exterior attack which knocked down the bulk of the flames. A crew also climbed to
the roof to perform vertical ventilation. The crew from Oaks Corners Engine 3211 advanced an attack line into the
building and performed a search for remaining fire with a thermal imaging camera  and perform overhaul.
Firefighters from the Border City Fire Department served as the FAST Team. Additional firefighters from all three
departments deployed salvage covers to minimize damage to the stores merchandise.

The store was open at the time and all employees made it out safely. The fire caused an estimated $30,000 to
$40,000 in damage. Initial investigation indicates the fire origin was electrical in nature.

The oaks Corners Fire Department responded with Engine 3211, Tanker/Pumper 3231, and Rescue 3271 with a
crew of 14 firefighters under the direction of Chief Mike Reifsteck. During the incident, Rescue 3271 responded to
an EMS call to assist the Junius Fire Department. EMS Captain Melissa Greek-Rouse was in charge of the oaks
Corners FD response to that call. The North Side FD provided stand-by coverage for oaks Corners for about an
hour.
